About Kwanjang Myers
We say in our system, “The secret is in the details.”
I love discovering the details of what makes a person happy, how their energy wants to flow, and how the body wants to move and release. I love how as these details unfold, a story emerges about a person’s core needs, which is their purpose. Everything I do is from the perspective of helping a person recognize their needs, and find strategies and containers to make it easier to meet these needs, so they can experience and continue to experience their peak state.
For example, as our chakras open and meridians flow, we naturally feel balanced and whole. Each of these aspects of energy holds a kind of window into the ways we experience life. Each registers this experience in a different way, and I’ve found that familiarity with these nuances is really empowering for people. This becomes kind of a shorthand way of getting information from one’s body, a shorthand for accessing the unconscious, and the preciousness of the needs that the unconscious reveals.
I have been teaching movement and healing for over 20 years. I started off as a professional musician. Curious about the body from a performance perspective, I became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner in 2004 and developed a private practice. In 2007 I met a Tai Chi Master, Daniel Kim and since 2011 have had the privilege of apprenticing with him and learning his entire healing and cultivation system. This cultivation journey led me from being an introvert who loved plants and landscapes, to someone teaching group classes in healing, emotional processing, and energy cultivation, and eventually inheriting his system and the school. The title Kwanjang is a traditional Chinese title for headmaster.
The most significant thing I’ve realized is that a spiritual experience is practically speaking the experience of your needs being met, which is to be happy. While you can always become more skilled, more resourced, and your needs can be met more and more deeply over time, the experience that all is perfect, is available in the moment. You don’t need to put more energy in to feel the way you wanted to feel, but just listen for the direction that things want to flow, because happiness what’s underneath the noise of all the excess charge in your system.
I love sharing experiences like these both with individuals and groups, because I’ve found these kinds of experiences to be very profound, bonding, and incredibly fun. For group classes please visit our non profit site, ShinNaFoundation.org.
